Umbrella 2

Filed under: Robert Hoehne — Rex @ 10:27

  1. I really want there not to be that intrusion in the lower left. I first saw this on a small screen that cropped the bottom of the pic just below the yellow edge of the flag. When I resized and saw the whole, I had a real sense of let down. Odd.

  2. Not just the colours, but the way that the light plays them against the sky help to make this more than an ‘umbrella’ shot.

On initial opening the bottom umbrella felt slightly discordant but since then I am quite happy with it. Colin’s crop also works.

  3. I don’t want that bit at the bottom either. It alters the perspective of the image in my mind’s eye. I feel the image has more impact without it.

That said I do like the simplicity and the way it leads my thoughts.

  4. One more vote to lose that piece bottom left — almost my first thought was to see if I’d like it better without that — I did. If you are not too much a “purist”, you could clone it out instead of cropping. ;-)

Beyond that small bit, this is quite enjoyable and nicely seen.

  5. Another lose the bottom left voter. I’d also be wanting just a little more space between the bottom right flag and the umbrella. Else line up the right edge of the flag with the flow of the umbrella to create a rather pleasing curve. Given the abstract qualities I need the geometry to keep me entertained.

  6. agreed on losing the bottom left or adding more of it next time.

  7. I’m fine with the bottom left bit, but couldn’t you have made the wind blow in the opposite direction; that lower flag would have looked better pointing to the left ;-)

  8. One more “lose the lower left” vote. The flag makes the smile already evoked a little wider. I’m fascinated by the translucency of that lower umbrella.

  9. I like the lower left, ties the umbrellas into a sense of a whole row of them. Give the comments here and on my postboxes, am I strange in liking that bit of visual tension?

The flag doesn’t seem to show the same bright lighting that the umbrellas do. Odd.
