Keeping the Dinosaur Theme Going…

  1. Re-worked the colours a little from first (now deleted) post.

  2. Kodak on crack!

Just analyzing the colour, it doesn’t seem quite right even if each individual item seems OK: for instance the tulips, both flower and leaf don’t appear wrong. I’m presuming that the red dust on the lower step is a result of recent DIY and tile cutting.

As to the picture, I’ll pass on Matt’s comment on my ‘urban red’: “…I’m not sure that there’s enough here to make this work…”.

  3. This one still has some color issues — guessing that the wall and tiles are supposed to be neutral in color. The pots and flowers are oversaturated and my recollection is that they were better in the previous post. I know Stills isn’t the place for a technical discussion, but if you would like suggestions on, send me an email.

Once I get past the color problems, I think this seems very Akikana (a good thing) except that it isn’t square and is in color. ;-)

  4. John posted while I was still composing.

  5. I think I preferred the first one (reader kept both for me). Looks a lot like Fuji Superia colours. I think the tulip yellow and flower pot reds have got a little carried away.

For me, it works better as square from the right.

  6. I think that this would have more impact with less in it. I would like less flower pots, more simplicity, if you can have more less! :-)

  7. I’m the last person to know about color issues, but this doesn’t feel wrong to me.

If those were godzillas, this would definitely be ‘Attack of the Killer Potted Plants.’

  8. I’m with the less idea. The photo is in the yellow flowers and the dinos. The other elements seem to detract.

  9. Thanks for the feedback. I think my colour phase may be put on hold for the general viewing public until I can get a little better grip on presenting it. I have plenty of shots to work with during this phase which was inspired by some unused film and a Pentax MZS which has hardly had any use. It took a lot to finish one roll – another reason to stick with 120 for the immediacy!

  10. Concerns about the color gave way to my giggles over the humor. How appropriate to have an oversized and colorful “forest” to surround the colorful dinasaurs. All that red in a row also reminds me of the urban red theme.

  11. a lot of strong colours, I’d be happier if I was a touch closer.
