Stills V3

A lot, and maybe too much, thinking about what direction I’m trying to take these days. A busy summer, lots of shooting, then I look back on it and don’t think very much of any of the pictures I’ve taken. Plenty of images people tell me they like, but nothing I care much about at all. I’ve been shooting too much for other people and not enough for myself, it seems. Time for a new tack.

  1. Gordon has told me privately that this is a goodbye image. I’m sure everybody will wish him well.

  2. Yes – I should have probably mentioned that :) I’ve enjoyed my time here, but I think I need to spend a bit working on images and not sharing them for comment. Just to see where that takes me.

  3. Maybe frustration is a good creative stimulant: it works here.

Good luck with whatever you find.

  4. Good luck as well.

This has been well handled. Could have easily been ruined with a fixed object in the shot. The whoosh of the lines gives this a real 360 feel. Certainly plenty of movement too.

  5. Gordon, good luck. It’s important to pick a fight with your viewers from time to time. Keeps things interesting.

  6. Sorry to see you go, but I understand the feeling. Best of luck wherever it takes you.

I’m liking where this image is taking me — like painted brush strokes that I’d like to touch. The color is very appealing.

  7. I hope you enjoy whatever you go on to do.

I find this an evocative image as it reminds me of a favourite from Caroline, which you can see HERE.

I do think I shoot for myself as I like more of my stuff and like it more than my mates do! :-)

  8. All the best in your search. I will miss seeing your photos here.

The shapes and colors in this one are lovely. We often see this combination of colors with bold shapes and sharp contrasts. This treatment of a familiar color pallete is interesting and pleasing.
