  1. I can’t help wondering when you starting taking surfing pictures.

  2. I haven’t a clue what this is, but the colour and flash of red is quite entrancing.

  3. Me too in the haven’t got a clue camp. Certainly more watery than metally. The placement of the red and the speed of ‘flow’ towards the bottom right of the photograph are firmly pulled back by the going ons top left. Well seen.

  4. …oh and I was expecting a hat given the title.

  5. There is a great temptation to leap into this and see where one gets taken.

    We often talk about abstract but this seems to me to be pretty close to fully deserving that description.

    The red is very insistent and until one knows whether it signals danger or not tend to prevent one from leaping in! This could keep one occupied for hours trying to decide!

  6. I was also expecting a hat. And why’s the reflection upside down?
    Lots of interesting texture and tone in that green & the clouds.

  7. I’ve half a memory that one of your very first Stills photos was a surfing scene. Glad to see you revisiting the genre.

    It is possibly too abstract for me. I would need the context of a series or some pairing with a more environmental shot.

  8. I like it. Looks like a piece of glass, perhaps the bottom of a glass bottle? One I saw the sky reflected it lost just a bit of abstractness, but that is not a bad thing. I’m not sure what the red is, but might make a guess that it is a hat — the dark area the brim of it — though I’m possibly being led astray by the title!

  9. I recognise sky with clouds but otherwise rather abstract. The bottle green tint is attractive and quite a contrast to the splash of red.

  10. I’m sure Sherlock Holmes would have got it in a trice.

    Fordingbridge is ~17 miles from the sea.
    There is a river Avon but it doesn’t have a bore and the weirs are a bit feeble.
    Like a lot of village fetes they have vintage cars.
    Bonnet = US Hood
    The bonnet of the green car (a Morris 1000?) had a reflection of the bonnet of a a red car in it. Red car was an E-type I think. I have an abstract of the red bonnet but it lacks a reflection of the green bonnet.

    :-)
