Creeper tracks, Manila, August 2010

  1. A study of the eternal struggle between nature and man’s structures. I don’t know how this looks in a big print but, despite the careful composition and runic signs, it doesn’t quite take off for me.

  2. Hey! How did you photograph my garage?

(OK, it is English Ivy that I’ve been peeling off the garage but the result is very similar).

Is this somewhere you can go back to? It would be fun to see this as the creeper slowly recolonises the wall.

  3. The tonal range of this does emphasise the feel of decay and entropy winning. The creeper tracks are almost like blanked out graffiti.

  4. I was very attracted to this with my first viewing on my laptop, but it seems to have lost a bit on the big monitor. Perhaps the laptop added some contrast. It’s a great subject, but I feel something lacking in the composition to hold me for very long.

  5. I see the lines as characters, groups of lines the same but I feel they need emphasising to accentuate that character. The group top right that sweeps across could be brought into use as a framing device and keep us looking at the central patterns.
