  1. I was frantically looking for signs of rime on the pavement and it took a while to find carrot-face in the shrubbery! Thanks for the greetings – want some of the real stuff?!!!

It is the accumulation of architectural details that this seems to be about. Like the vertical stacking of aerials and the dollar sign curb paving blocks for the cars to go over into the garage. Like the Nuremberg pillars surrounding the more prosaic accommodation areas. It reminds me a little bit of the building styles in the richer areas of Santiago in Chile.

    Certainly plenty to look at.

  2. There are dozens of these air-filled Frostys around town here currently, and now every time I pass one I get another smile while thinking of this image. I love this. Still waiting for your book to come out.

  3. Mr Frosty isn’t immediately obvious so there is an element of discovery within the image. Mr Frosty looks a bit incongruous amongst the urban ordinariness and lack of any other festive decoration.

  4. This made me smile for at least a couple of reasons.

    – internally there is no other obvious sign of winter or cause for celebration, which we tend to asscoiate with such inflatables.

    – the contrast with our recent ‘frosty’ weather is somewhat incongruous.

The real star here is the contrast between the round celebratory Frosty and the layered and grey urbanscape that is his home. As well as being a cause for humour this also speaks of social and cultural issues.

  5. a lot of information in here and it took a while to find our plastic friend. I keep promising to do a project on daytime deflated Christmas snow scenes that are for some reason required in Australia’s summer.

    Another well balanced picture.

  6. Thanks for the comments. I shoot these ‘Festive’ themed shots a year in advance but cut it a little fine last year as I only captured this year’s posting on Christmas Day. Was good to get out with the camera again after a long break.
