And the mist rolled in

Just as the barbecue was hot the sea fret rolled in and stayed three days:) Normal photgraphic service will be resumed later!

  1. I immediately liked this and took a while to figure out why: a real photography skill to produce a relaxed, natural snapshot like this rather than something that feels like a forced pose.
Also found myself trying to identify the beers from the bottles!

  2. Did you place the orange bag there? Does the guy on the right wear it if there is an emergency and the rescue services have to be called in?!!

I think Doonster probably has hit on the reason this is successful to which I would add that I like the feel of the sea fret rolling in.

  3. Another bit of the Stills educational feature, I had to look up sea fret in order to confirm my strong thought.

This picture must be staged, the beer bottle is nearly empty and the sausages are not burnt. :-)

  4. :) No staging at all – the barbecue took ages to heat up, then the children got cold in the fog while we got the cooking done… My mate Neil is a quick drinker and the beer was Adnam’s Best.

Yes, totally relaxed and easy going, again the beer may have helped.

  5. Looks like a fine time on the beach, with or without “sea fret” — I also looked it up. We call the similar event here “ground fog” — and I enjoy photographing in it for the soft effect it provides. I get a very good sense of being there, kneeling in the sand — jackets on and fingers in pockets to keep them warm.

  6. I realised I should point out that I am one of the subjects here – the dark one on the right! – and that Sue is the photographer. Clearly, Neil and I are more relaxed in front of the camera than she is… perhaps the Adnams helped:)

  7. I thought that the one on the right was you. Not officially a self-portrait then!!

  8. Must be cold, hands in pockets. So are the beers cold as well?

I like the BBQ, looks easily portable. All the makings of a good day out, sausages, beer and family/friends.
