  1. A shot made for b/w. Very simple but colour might well have kept it at an ordinary level. Instead the dark tones of the helmet are very insistent, while its size underscores how long she has to grow before she is an adult.

    • Black and white was the only option, but you’re right. A colour shot would have been confused and the colours distracting. Additionally, we were under a gazebo, so the background would have become more aggressive. The growing room appealed to me.

  2. A captivating smile and the helmet is very fetching.
    The image has a good tonal range in the subject and the DoF throws the background out of the zone of interest.
