Ceredigion County Show

  1. What I find so striking about this image is the centrality of the subject and the way it gets me thinking about how some may complain about our weather, but it sure does make for interesting skies and lush surroundings.

  2. I too find the central presentation very strong and for that, enjoyable. We’ve had a Constable, is this a Stubbs? The horse is mid step which gives a great sense of crisp motion and the sky is just typical of this Summer!
I’ve been watching the horse riding in the Paralympics, enjoyable and inspiring but I’m still clueless!

  3. Agree the central placement makes the horse look strong and the contestant confident. I wonder how it turned out?

The colours look very good on my laptop(!) Rich, but not overblown green and the title sets the scene effectively.

  4. Although I’ve been neglecting Stills overall lately, I feel especially guilty about not yet commenting on this image. I’ve returned to it several times and enjoyed every view. The overcast sky makes for very rich colors, and the atmosphere is palpable. The silhouette is strong while still retaining detail and color, and the subject works well in the center. A beautiful moment in time.

  5. Thank you Christina, and everyone else. Mike – I didn’t watch the performances as that was not the objective of my shooting! Wales rarely looks anything other than green and if photos can tell lies then this one is a whopper – a moment of sunshine (well, about an hour) between a lot of rain, and not just for a day!
