The Look

  1. I apologise for my absence but I’ve been on holiday. Before that I was, amongst other things, busy trying to make the deadline for a free photobook. I used it for a family album of stuff from a holiday we had back in June down to Pembrokeshire. If you don’t mind I think I’ll share some with you, starting with this one. The reason it’s square is because the photobook was.
I took this through some chain link fencing, which might explain some dark blemishes you may notice.

  2. June wasn’t the best month to be in West Wales – I hope your holiday wasn’t washed out entirely! I have started using Blurb to make an annual family album – it is probably cheaper than ink and paper on my printer; but I do choose landscape format. I think that you have used square format very well and this shot could almost be said to have benefited from it. I see that some of the rain I talked about is present in this! Either nobody else wanted to have a go in the little cars or you managed to separate out your children. If there are dark blemishes I can’t see them and, overall, the photo looks very good.

    • Yes John, it was the end of a very wet & windy day, there were so few people left on site that my Grandchildren were fortunate enough to have the track to themselves.

  3. I think it is plural, The Looks. I don’t think the image would have had anywhere near as much impact had both drivers been looking at the camera. Catching the moment!
I cannot see the fence either.

    • Well done Rex, you’re the first person to refer to “the look” that I personally feel the image is actually about. But there again I’m probably viewing this in the context of the image that I think I will use as the sequel to this.

Thank you both (John & yourself) for your comments.

  4. Yes, framing aside, this is about the looks. The one to you being relational and the one across, perhaps, more competitive! A good moment.
