  1. I tried to leave a comment before, but it hasn’t appeared!

I like this picture. The mesh door and muted colours are very evocative of rural America. The chickens walking, so purposefully, past are impossible not to anthropomorphise and then, perhaps, the leading cockerel makes us ask qustions about the era the image refers back to. A lot to be gleaned from a single frame!

Incidentally, I like the containment provided by the framing of the foreground shadow – a frame within a frame – and the author is new to me as well!

I have no idea why wordpress does that. It is annoying as it hides the comment from RSS.
It happens if you comment having clicked on the image.

  2. The cockerell reminds me of this year’s raid’s by the fox! There are two elements to this: the play with patterns (done very successfully) and, as Mike says, the evocation of a certain lifestyle. One could say that it is impossible not to like this!

  3. There was a time when I wouldn’t have realised that the position of such things as the diagonal line across the door and it’s corresponding shadow were so purposeful and effective.
