Fisherman & Chips

My Father, an avid angler, but these days not during the depths of winter, enjoying some Beamish chips that have been fried in beef dripping. Unfortunately they only fry fish on a weekend, during the winter months.

  1. Another great portrait. Again, the smile makes the image – obvious delight with his chips! It makes for an intimate image too, grabbed across the table.

  2. He looks so pleased to have his picture taken! I like the sort of mirror image of him (only it’s not) in the background

  3. This is a magnificent shot – I’m not sure I’d want the chips in beef dripping but perhaps winter justifies them! I like the way the exposure allows him to be well isolated and yet one has a feel for the depth of the room. The mug is a nice touch – is that the one for taking out angling?!!

  4. I think I’d like to try one chip!
Another wow portrait with beautiful lighting, a bit Caravaggio(ish).

  5. Agreed this is a very engaging and “wow” portrait. The details are rendered beautifully.
