  1. Another swirl of colour. Recognisably a clematis, but throwing off rays, or sprays, of light. I like the perception of some sharpness in the centre of the flower too.

  2. A good treatment for a flower – lifts it above the individual bloom to a sort of ‘ur’ clematis, and the subtleties of form and colour are very beautiful

  3. Lots of good things about this floral Catherine Wheel! The composition gives the swirling flower a direction of movement while the light gradient of the colour gives a surface feel of silk. Somehow, the flower seems to have a personality and it is as if it is conducting a conversation!

  4. The remnants of texture in this means that it retains the semblance of a Clematis, it hasn’t become a total abstract. The swirl does add to the character of the flower, it adds ‘flower’ :-)

  5. My first thought was of a pinwheel blowing in the breeze. A lovely flow of color, shape and texture.
