Birmingham Library (The new one)

This is an amazing building.

This is an amazing building.

  1. Following my response to your comment on the memorial, this is perhaps about pattern and creativity sa much as the direct subject! Without the title or knowledge of Brum library I’d never have knwon, yet you have given me a sense of man’s creativity – it reminds me of a theatre entrance for some reason.

I’m not used to you working in mono, but it works well here and may remove distraction from the patterns and contrasts.

  2. If you get an opportunity to go to the library then go. It is a tourist attraction and there are currently no restrictions on the use of cameras in the building. I guess they would stop you using flash.
The image is actually monochromatic in nature but is a colour image. I don’t know why I don’t post mono work here as I do quite a bit. I have discovered Silver Efex and love it to bits, it works in the way a darkroom worker would want to work.

  3. Ah yes, there is some very subtle colour in the glass.

I’ve not used Silver Efex – perhaps I should given that Leica include with the Monochrom – but have stuck with LR and some film (though that is in the cupboard at the moment).

I seem to be in Birmingham fairly regularly at the moment, so I’ll see if I get time one day, and will be sure to let you know.
