And relax…

DSCF0108 adjusted sharpened resized My first successful post to Stills – not for the want of trying I might add. I thought this might bring a bit of warmth into the January chill – up here in Edinburgh it’s getting decidedly parky just now.

  1. and what a great picture. Wonderful textures throughout, I can feel the freshness of the water, the pebbly roughness of the beach. The splashes of colour from the bathers adds to the cheerful scene.
    Very well done.

    • Thank you for your pleasing and positive comment – it’s much appreciated!

  2. I think the attractiveness of this image comes from its PoV. The bird’s eye view shows us a family(?) jammed into a small part of the beach. The family and stones are distributed in an oval pattern which fills the beach and gives us lots to look at.
The image has a texture, brightness and quality that adds to its impact, it is technically near perfect.

    • Thanks Rex. I’m particularly flattered by your regard for my technical competence. I feel completely incompetent however as it has taken me so long to actually get this image here and now I notice that it’s appeared much smaller that I wanted it to. I saved it at 1000×640 and it’s uploaded at 300×192. Goodness knows why – it’s all a mystery to me! I’m going to have a go at editing and uploading it again. Fingers crossed! Hmm – it hasn’t worked. Any ideas?

      • Welcome Harvey, somewhere in the less than intuitive posting process is an option to select what size you want it to be and it sometimes doesn’t, perhaps never, defaults to 100%

I thought the small size was supposed to generate some sort of voyeuristic frustration :0)

  3. If you click on the thumbnail it will open a tab with the image at full size. That allows you to flick between comment and full image. As Chris says there is a selection box during posting to chose various sizes but the full size image is always ‘behind’ the thumbnail or other sized image. The full sized image is even behind the full sized image. :-) I think the cookies remember what setting you use, so once you’ve found full-size I think it will set it at that next time.
