  1. Robert – a lovely, gentle photograph of a sunny summer afternoon, resting in some welcome shade. I love the light and the shapes, the recurring half circles at the tops of the arches and the bicycle wheels, the circular structure surrounded by trees. I also like how you have used the column in the foreground to block the arch in the background, ‘holding’ the bike. The slight toning gives a warmth to the photo too, just right for the light – a straight B&W conversion would have made it a different photograph. Very nice.

  2. I don’t know why but for me the visual treat was the pillar bisecting the bike. There was a bit in my imagination that had the two bits of bike detached. The bike also prevents the central pillar from dominating the image. I agree with Nigel that the toning provides a good feeling of summer warmth assisted by the vegetation, pools of light and the shadows. The capture of the other bike is a bonus :-)

  3. Yes to what they said. But I have to mention that wonderful tree trunk on the left and its texture.

  4. thanks. It was fun working this spot and finally deciding I needed a cyclist to complete the picture.
