Storm coming, Manila, July 2010

Taken in the brief window of opportunity just before Cyclone Conson rolled through on Tuesday night.

  1. Our wetter than usual rainy season in Japan is nearly at an end…next up two months of very hot sun and a the odd typhoon every so often. Having waited for an expected typhoon and it not to have swept through Tokyo I very much feel (and understand) the calm in the shot. It even catches the lighting mood too. The light before and after these strong winds are well worth taking advantage of – especially in areas that are typically hazy for much of the summer. The little waterfall is hard to see though.

Everything was. Even at 5pm it was pretty dark, especially the shady garden. Minimal processing here, too.

  2. Dreamy, out of focus and blurry with motion. Beautiful though.

  3. There seems to be a real feel for the vegetation and the mood of the wetness. I’m not sure whether it is part of what Akikana is talking about but the green is very appealing.

  5. I’d been struggling to express what this made me feel and then Rex came along and put it perfectly.

I’m interested in the background here. It makes the whole scene look more like decor than nature.

Well, it is my back garden, so an accurate observation.
I must invest in an umbrella clamp so I can get out further in the rain.

  6. Yes, wet. And again has a familiar tropical feeling for me — especially now during the summer storm season.

  7. the vertical lines of out of focus fence add to the criss cross lines of the plant well.

Would the highlights be better handled with a polarising filter? or woudl they ruin the wet glistening feel?
